MiraTe is built by a single developer who just wanted a better way to keep up with shows, movies and anime — and to watch them with the people who matter. No team, no investors pushing me to bolt on ads or lock the good parts behind a subscription.
So the deal is simple: tracking, shared lists, the trailer feed, anime done right — the core is free, and it stays that way. No ads. No catch.
If the app earns a place in your day and you ever feel like chipping in, there's a small, completely optional tip inside the app. Nothing is ever gated behind it and there's zero pressure — everything works the same either way. Is MiraTe really free?
The core is free forever: tracking, imports, your history, recommendations and shared lists — no ads, ever. If you love it there are optional supporter tips and a membership, but they only grant a cosmetic badge. The features you start with never go behind a paywall.
What’s the best TV Time alternative?
We’re obviously biased — so here’s the fair checklist instead: pick a tracker that imports your FULL history (episode dates included, not just show names), covers everything you watch (TV, movies, anime), and won’t paywall the basics later. MiraTe was built to pass that checklist: the deepest TV Time import anywhere, one library for everything, and a core that stays free forever.
How do I export my TV Time data before it shuts down?
Open the shutdown notice in the TV Time app and tap Learn More, or go straight to gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service in a browser. Sign in (if you joined via Facebook or Google, use “Forgot password” first), generate your data, and download gdpr-data.zip. Do it before July 15 — after that your history is gone for good. Then bring it to MiraTe, or park it at mirate.app/tvtime while you decide.
Is there one app to track anime AND regular TV shows?
That’s exactly why MiraTe exists. Most trackers treat anime as an afterthought — wrong seasons, split entries, missing episodes. MiraTe cross-matches TMDB, AniList and TVmaze so your anime lives in the same library as everything else, with real seasons and airing dates in your timezone.
Can I share a watchlist with friends?
Yes — and more than share it. MiraTe’s shared lists are collaborative: everyone adds titles, everyone’s progress is visible, and you can see who’s caught up before you spoil the finale. It’s the feature that started this whole app.
How do I know when my show comes back?
MiraTe tracks it for you: renewals, new-season announcements and premiere dates arrive as notifications, the Upcoming calendar shows air dates in YOUR timezone (no more “it aired yesterday in America” confusion), and caught-up shows flip to “Watching” the day a new episode drops.
I’m coming from TV Time. What happens to my history?
It survives, all of it. Export your gdpr-data.zip from TV Time before July 15, then either import it in the app or park it at mirate.app/tvtime right now — we’ll hold your parsed history (every episode with its original watch date, movies, watchlist) until you’re ready, and it auto-deletes after 60 days if you never claim it. The importer is tested against real exports from all three generations of TV Time’s format.
Can I import from other trackers?
Yes — TV Time (the deepest import anywhere: episode-level history with dates intact), plus Letterboxd, Trakt and IMDb. You review anything the matcher isn’t sure about; everything confident imports automatically. Re-running an import never duplicates anything.
How is MiraTe different from Letterboxd or Trakt?
Letterboxd is brilliant for film diaries but doesn’t track TV. Trakt tracks everything but gates its best features behind VIP. MiraTe’s core is free, covers movies, TV and anime in one library, and adds the thing nobody else has: shared lists you actually watch together with friends, with everyone’s progress in sync.
Does MiraTe handle anime properly?
It’s our obsession. We cross-match TMDB, AniList and TVmaze so merged anime get their real seasons (Re:ZERO shows 4 seasons, not one endless list), airing dates show in your timezone, and one entry covers the whole show — no duplicate season entries to juggle.
Who owns my data?
You do. Delete your account in two taps (Settings → Delete account) and everything goes with it, immediately. We never sell personal data. Anonymous, grouped statistics — never anything identifying you — help fund the free app, and that sharing is opt-in. Full library export is on the roadmap.
Does it sync across devices?
Yes. Sign in with Apple or Google on iOS or Android and your library, progress, lists and ratings follow you everywhere, instantly.
Who’s behind MiraTe?
One person, honestly. MiraTe started as a thing for me and my friends to share watchlists, and grew into the tracker I always wanted. Small by design — which means fast fixes and no committee deciding your app should have ads.
I found a bug or want a feature. Where do I go?
Right inside the app: Settings → Send feedback — bugs and ideas land directly with the developer. Or email [email protected] (great for weird TV Time export files). You can also join the MiraTe community on Discord (discord.gg/PMR4N6KEV) to share ideas and chat with other watchers. Either way, you’ll get a reply from the person who wrote the code.
